Local knowledge to help make your stay in Robin Hood Country extra special
Walk 2: Sherwood Forest Parking at the main visitor centre off the B6034, take the main track towards the Major Oak. At a fork, take the left track and continue up hill keeping to the main path. Eventually you will break out of the woodland and the tree known as the centre tree will be obvious. From here you will see some good views. Continue n the track across fields until a path joins from the right, take this track, across further fields then taking a further turn right heading back towards the major Oak. Passed a number of Oak trees including a large hollow stump on your left, before forking right through coppiced areas and heading back towards the Major Oak. Take the detour to see the spectacular tree before returning back to the Visitor Centre where you will find permanent exhibitions about Robin Hood and life in the Forest, an information centre and a Cafe.
