Walk 2: Hayton and the Chesterfield Canal

'The Boat' at Hayton lies at the Northern end of Hayton where the road bends to cross the Canal. This Public House is a good location for the start of the walk and since it has good food and real ales, makes a good finish. Go over the bridge and take the towpath along the canal, following along underneath two bridges before emerging onto Church Lane at the third Bridge. Follow the lane back to the main Hayton Road. Turn left along this road, then right and onwards at the junction  into Hangingside Lane. Follow this lane on along, passing Goit Lane on the right and climbing steadily up to the high point of the walk at the Trig Point. Retrace your steps, heading right and back down Hollinhill Lane, down to the main road through the village and back to the Inn Car Park.
