North Nottinghamshire
Tourist Association
|
Sherwood
and the Dukeries Tourism Group
Notes from meeting held on Tuesday 23rd
November 2004 Those present: Geoff. Ruffell- Chairman, Peter Morton- V. Chairman, John Anderson- Treasurer, plus 20 members. This
was the first full meeting of the re-formed group. Detailed below
are the main items arising from the meeting.
Name of GroupAt an earlier meeting it had been agreed that the North Notts. Tourist Association should be revived rather than folded, but the consensus was that it should be renamed. Suggestions were made that “Sherwood and/or the Dukeries should be included in the name, to geographically position the association. At the last meeting a poll was taken of the names that had been put forward and “Rural Nottinghamshire Tourism Group” attracted the most votes. However, there were concerns expressed that the name did not specifically link it to the north of the county. The committee discussed this at a later date and decided to use the name “Sherwood and the Dukeries Tourism Group”. Committee Rather than try to recruit a larger permanent committee, it was agreed to run initially with the three positions detailed above. Members can be seconded to the committee if a specific skill or sector related knowledge is required. To cover the secretarial requirements of the group, it was decided that if no volunteer is forthcoming the services of a freelance secretary would be used. Speaker David Janes of the Federation of Small Businesses gave a presentation on services provided and benefits of membership. Contact details are available should any member be interested in joining. The intention is to try to provide a speaker, or guest, at each meeting who can talk, or give input on a topic of current specific interest to group members. The committee would welcome suggestions on topics for future meetings. Constitution
/ Aims and Objectives These are currently being finalised and will be copied to members on completion. (2) Membership
Fee The intention is to run the Group at minimal cost. The balance of funds from the N.N.T.A. has been transferred to the new group. It is proposed to charge a membership fee of £10.00 per year per business. Affiliate membership was proposed and will be reviewed. Collection of membership fees will be organised when a secretary has been appointed. It is hoped that member organisations with suitable facilities may be able to host future meetings and a contribution of £2.00 per head, per attendee towards the host’s costs is proposed. Frequency
of Meetings. It was agreed that meetings would be bi-monthly on the third Tuesday of the month. Date
of next meeting. Tuesday 18th January 2005 Venue and time .to be confirmed.
