The meeting was held at lunchtime and was attended by 23 members. We were pleased to see some members that cannot normally make the evening meetings and the meeting was heralded a success. A further lunchtime meeting is planned for Tuesday 25th March 2008.

The group was very pleased to welcome Emma Pickering, Product Development Executive from Robin Hood Airport. She gave an informative talk on the airport covering progress to date and future plans, statistics on passenger numbers and travel reasons including tourism, business & religion, travel routes existing and planned for the forthcoming season, the new website to promote tourism in the region (which has a link to our website), development of a new Ramada Hotel complex on site, the new transport links to the airport and marketing activities in other cities. It was discussed that members could run adverts promoting their businesses in like businesses in cities such as Dublin. An action was taken to progress the idea for the club to take part.

Helen Sisson from Experience Nottinghamshire provided an update on the new Robin Hood trail and thanks was expressed at the invitations to the launch day, which was enjoyed by all those that attended. It is seen as a positive step forward to offer the CD audio trail. Club members can purchase CD presentation packs with 10 CD’s for display in their premises at a hefty discount for resale to the visitor, by contacting Helen. Individual CD’s are available to purchase online through the club website. Further information on the lottery bid was detailed including the times of the shows. Further leaflets were available for distribution.

Sandra Withington from Bassetlaw explained that the ‘Pink Booklet’ guide for self-catering & bed & breakfast rules and regulation was no longer available to buy. This guide is a MUST on the latest regulations and legal requirements for any business, but the Government has now only made it available thorough a licensing scheme. Sandra is able to offer the guide without the usual costs involved in licensing and any members wishing to take up the offer contact Chris Daniels.

Thanks were expressed to Sandra for the catering provision and the Clumber Park Hotel for which we are grateful.

Chris made a ‘plug’ for his new website selling lavender gifts and plants online: www.lavender-gifts.co.uk.

Chris closed the meeting and thanked those present.

Next Meeting:  22nd January 2008
