Newark, an historic gem in the heart of Nottinghamshire. Not far from Robin Hoods Sherwood Forest, the market town of Newark is a bustling theatre of life. During the English Civil War (1642-46), Newark UK played a major role beyond its size. The population of Newark was swelled many times over by troops loyal to the King who would then launch attacks on local Parliamentarians. Newark was besieged on three occasions and finally surrendered only after the King himself had surrendered.
